The project, of which Bitstream is a part, is for government transport authorities in Australia. The initiative was sparked by requests from emergency services organisations to incorporate location-based services infrastructure in some road tunnels.
For the tunnel project, Bitstream provided:
- two types of PTP time servers: Quazar-700 and Quazar- 200, together with a monitoring system called QuazarNet for the implementation of the NoSky SatNav GNSS tunnel positioning system.
The need for such an infrastructure arose from the absolute necessity for emergency services to receive continuous updates on the location of the vehicle in the tunnel during emergency events.
