Optical multiplexer of two RS232/422/485 serial interfaces

RSMUX3-FO is a multiplexer of two RS232/422/485 data streams into fiber optic. Multiplexer allows connection of RS232/422/485 serial interfaces over fiber links with the maximum distance of 100km and provides complete electromagnetic isolation between devices and resistance to disturbances occurring along transmission path. Depending on the specific versions, device can be connected using multi-mode or single-mode fiber. WDM and SFP versions are also available.

RSMUX3-FO provides fully transparent transmission path for RS channels. Each serial interface is sampled with a frequency of 20 MHz, which allows on data throughput of the RS up to 230,4 kbit/s for RS-232 or up to 2 Mbit/s for RS-485/RS-422 with +/-60ns pulse time distortion. The delay between two RSMUX3-devices for RS232 is 1,6us plus 0,4us times distance in meters, for RS-485 is 0,6us plus 0,4us times distance in meters. RS485 ports can be set up for 2-wire or 4-wire. Depending on the version of the device, multiplexer can work in point to point (with optical path protection), bus and ring topologies (possibility to build ring topologies with up to 64 devices). Serial interfaces can be configured through DIP switches.

We can use pair of RSMUX3-FO to realize interface conversion from RS-232 to RS485 or RS-4222.

Devices with single or double optical interfaces can work in ring topology. In case of single optical interface, topology gives us possibility to communicate with all devices, but don't guarantee connection in case of failure. Topology built with devices having double optical interfaces ensures proper communication even if one of the optical connection or device is broken.

RSMUX3-FO is available in industrial version with extended temperature range designed for operation in harsh environment. Device can be mounted directly on the DIN rail.

Note! Transceiver type field is used only in the case of WDM interfaces. When choosing SFP interface must be selected port type and range by selecting the optical SFP transceiver.
